The newsletter subscription and membership are two different things. We made it this way in case some members, particularly those who visit the site regularly anyway would prefer not to receive all the news they just read online in their inbox.

So, the fact that you are subscribed to one of the newsletters dose not mean that you have registered your membership yet.
